Montbrió del Camp is one of the Baix Camp (Catalonia's Low Country) counties most influenced by the Mediterranean climate.

This climate favours the cultivation of characteristic products in this area, such as vegetables, nuts and dried fruit, sweet fruit, wine and oil. This is the origin of the ancient roots of Montbris's agriculture and crops.

The Agricultural Cooperative of Montbrió del Camp was established in 1944 as local farmers wanted to improve the production and marketing of their products.

It turned out to be a hard task, as no infrastructure was then available. In the beginning, a number of warehouses and a mill were leased in order to allow the launching of the activity.

Land was bought in 1952 leading to the construction of the Oil Mill, which included a traditional oil press. Thus began the Oil Section, including the making of Extra Virgin Oil from the Arbequin olive variety (originating from Arbeca, Catalonia).
